About UPSC (Union Public Service Commission): The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is a constitutional body of India that conducts direct recruitment of officers to the All-India Services and the Central Civil Services (Group A and B) through examinations. It is responsible for appointments to and examinations for All India services and group A & group B of Central services. UPSC conducts a number of competitive exams to fill-in various civil service vacancies for the government of India. The most prestigious among these is the Civil Services Examination (CSE), popularly known as the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) exam¹. The CSE is conducted in two phases: UPSC Prelims (objective-type questions) and UPSC Mains (descriptive and essay-type answering).
